Description for luxury vehicle porsche 550 spyder replica
For sale Porsche 550
spyder replica
Early Beck build (believe circa 1986)
powered by 1915cc type 1 engine (built by CB performance) at
claimed 125 bhp
Weighing approx. 580kgs Beck claim below performance specs

Quarter mile: 13.6
secs @ 148 kph with top speed 200 kph
Besides being a really cool 550 spyder replica that you can own and
drive, (even pretend to be James Dean if you like) what’s special about this car
It’s fitted with 4 wheel disc brakes with the original wide
5 stud pattern alloy hubs (not the VW 4 stud and rear drums that is common)
And 15” x 5.5” chrome “wide 5” stud pattern 356 wheels with custom
offsets front and rear shod in Bridgestone Potenza RE002 tyres (wheels and
tyres only 3 years old)
Engine has twin 44IDF webers, electronic ignition and custom
Porsche type 547 engine rocker covers
Is fitted with genuine period correct Nardi steering wheel
and 356 VDO gauges
Car has only travelled 7000kms so as you would expect is mechanically
tight with no issues
Transmission is VW 4 speed (inverted to run car as mid-engine)
fitted with a tall diff ratio for hwy cruising
And jamer (off road buggy racing) shift linkage and wilwood hydraulic
clutch master and slave cyl
Adjustable balance bar wilwood pedal box and wilwood brake
bias valve
Has bi-Xenon HID headlights behind original 50’s lenses
Interior is a bit warn (could even be called a bit tatty) and body has a few chips, bumps and
scrapes typical of a 30 year old car
Trendy folk would call it patina, it all this adds to the
persona of a real old Porsche
For those not aware Chuck Beck apparently got hold of an original
550 to copy (and take fibreglass moulds off)
They hand-fabricated 3″ diameter steel tube frame to the
original mid-engine design,
Then fitted fibreglass panels faithful to the meticulous
detailing and spirit of Dr. Porsche’s original design.
Imported from US approx. 11 yrs ago by previous owner
Car was registered in US as 1956 Porsche (have copy of original
US title) and was imported from US as such it has 56 Porsche ID plate
and registered here (currently on club plates) as same
Note for anyone not aware club reg is not transferrable
Asking price is a starting point, Not many of these come up for sale (especially in AU) so
from here I’ll gauge interest, I'm not unrealistic (I've seen 550 replicas advertised well north of $100k) but i'm not giving away either, I’ll listen to reasonable offers but not interested in any silly
offers (thanks anyway) It is not a desperate sale, just am planning new project and
can use the cash for it my new project will happily sit on hold till I can get an acceptable
price
Payment is COD
