Description for luxury vehicle Norton Commando Roadster

1970 Norton Commando Roadster

Completely and fully restored from the ground up - and in better than new condition.

This is probably the best available early Norton Commando 750 Roadster in Australia - and having owned Nortons for over 40 years, that's a big call for me to make.

Obviously all the numbers match - engine, frame & gearbox.

The paintwork is flawless and stunning, the chrome is unmarked, the finish on the frame is lovely, the engine, gearbox and everything else has been rebuilt, refurbished or replaced with as many 'New Old Stock' parts as possible.

The bike has been started since the restoration to prove the work was completed - and not been run since.

It would easily be worthy of showing at Motorclassica or on display in any museum, or collection. As the bike has not been ridden, she will need to be topped up with oils and have the new battery connected - a bit of a mini service.

So, if my Norton is that good why am I selling it? Only because we are starting renovation work on our house and it's a big, costly job.

This is the description from the US collector who I bought the bike from:-

"The motorcycle listed here is a 1970 Norton Commando 750cc.  As you can readily see from the photos, this bike is in exceptional condition.  The motorcycle was selected for restoration given it’s fine original condition.  It received a comprehensive restoration with all mechanical parts of the bike brought to new condition.  Restoration work was completed by Perry Layne of New Zealand (Perry lived in the U.S. while restoring four Norton motorcycles for me) and Peter Ryan of Union Jack Motorcycles.  None better when it comes to Nortons.  As many NOS parts as could be found were used throughout the process.  Paint and finish work was done by Cycle Colors and it’s certainly “top notch”.  The bike was painted in it’s original metal-flake color and I believe it is called “fire-flake golden bronze”.  The motorcycle was started to ensure everything was in order following restoration.  It has not been ridden or started since that time.  It would be most difficult to find a Commando in better restored won’t be disappointed"

Norton's this good do not come up for sale very often, although Norvil Motorcycles in the UK should be able to build you one this good for about $25,000 (Jan 2016 prices - plus the shipping and GST) - but they have a 3 year waiting list.....

The Norton is advertised elsewhere, so I must reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time.

Inspection is welcomed and I'll do my best to answer any questions.

Thanks for looking.
