Porsche 911 Turbo (993) Launch Edition
As
one of the world’s most sought-after sports cars, this rare Launch
Edition of the 911 Turbo (with the internal design number 993) has
gained a reputation for exceptional dependability and reliability. Being the first 911 Turbo to have twin turbos, its 3.6-liter
six-cylinder air-cooled engine can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9
seconds.
Other
performance engineering innovations which make this 993 unique and
desirable are a six speed manual transmission, all-wheel drive, a
newly designed aluminum chassis with rear multi-link suspension and
hollow-spoke aluminum wheels.
Visually,
the wide-body appearance is taken to the extreme, pushing out several
inches past the base Carrera with its fender flares and adding its
own unique wing, bumpers, and wheels to match its more aggressive
suspension tuning.
By
modern standards, this 993 Turbo remains to be one of the most
engaging performance sports cars on the road and this example is in
exceptional showroom condition. As a Launch edition, it is Arena Red
Metallic on Gray. Of the 5,978 993 Turbos produced globally, only
1,357 came to North America in the 1996 model year.
