Description for luxury vehicle RGV500 Suzuki Motorcycle (RGV250/RG500)

RGV500 Special

Riding an RG500 (more than one) as my only personal transport for eighteen years (230,000 km) allowed me to know it rather well. I built this RG500/RGV250 with a team of specialists fourteen years ago because the RG500 engine is so much fun, and improving everything else would be worth while. The best parts were sourced from around the world to build this bike to a high standard that I thought I would never sell. That day has arrived.

This RGV500 has just received a refurbish. New fairing, paint, air filters, ball float valves, fork seals and oil, gearbox oil, spark plugs, rebuilt brakes, carbs, mufflers, to go with the dozens of special parts and modifications of the original build. The 570cc engine has done 16,000 km and is running strongly. Conservatively tuned for longevity. Never been raced. Continuously road registered (expires June 2017).

RGV500 Modifications

Frame:  Suzuki RGV250M (VJ22,1991 model)

Right hand frame spar professionally cut and internally reinforced. Custom steel cradle made for front engine mounting points. New aluminium rear mounts made and welded onto the frame. Subframe made to fit tailpiece incorporating battery mount. All by MASS Welding, Hobart.

Suspension: Rear: Ohlins adjustable for high and low speed compression damping, rebound damping, and hydraulic preload. Front: RGV250M with uprated springs and valves, preload adjustable. Stainless and kevlar brake lines.

Four-way adjustable clip-ons hand made by Kelvin Franks of Franks Racing Products, Adelaide.

TYGA, Thailand, (http://tyga-performance.com) rear sets with carbon fibre heel guards.

Engine:  RG500 from 1985

Stan Stephens (http://stanstephens.com/2stroke.htm) 570 kit. Sent barrels and heads to UK for proper machining.

Carbon fibre rotary valves, covers machined, and carb direct chokes from Gunter Nothelfer, Germany. (www.ghn-racing.de/index-e.htm).

Air filter kit including ball float valves and air filters, and clutch upgrade kit from Rick Lance, USA. (http://www.lancegamma.com).

RGB500 race bike magnesium quick action throttle from Padgetts, UK. (http://www.padgettsmotorcycles.com).

Billet cush drive, and gear shift shaft support from Mark Dent/Mark Drysdale, UK. (http://www.performancefab.co.uk).

Expansion chamber kit from Dennis Foran, Australia. (http://foranexhaust.com.au). Professionally welded by MASS Welding to fit the bike. Mufflers by Tony Collings (ex Ducati SBK Australia).

Bodywork: Aprilia and TYGA.

Modified tailpiece from an Aprilia RS250. Custom seat and side panels, TYGA RGV250M (VJ22 GP style) screen, upper and lower fairing, modified to fit. Carbon fibre mirrors, front fender, rear hugger. Modified LED indicators.

Tank professionally expanded underneath, using the space of the 250 airbox, maintaining the original visible shape. Capacity now 20 litres (from 16), reserve 5.5 litres (from 4).

Professionally painted to replicate RGV500 from 1998 by Karl Browne. (Eastern Shore Bodyworks, Mornington, Tasmania).

I can ship interstate or overseas, and will work with you to facilitate this. I have successfully shipped to the USA before.

Feel free to get in touch with me if you would like any specific information, or would like to see the bike in person.
