Description for luxury vehicle 1939 DKW NZ500

This is a very rare 2 year only production DKW NZ500,  which as far as we know its the ONLY DKW NZ500 in the USA that we are aware of. I know a good amount of collectors in the USA and nobody has a DKW NZ500. The DKW NZ500 is the most desirable motorcycle in the DKW family as this is a two stroke, 2 piston machine. To start with the known history of the bike it was imported into the USA around the mid 1990's and came out of Bavaria near the Black Forest. The owner who imported it , didn't ride it here in the states he just stored the motorcycle. He did all his riding on the bike while it was in Germany. Once it arrived here it was stored away in a garage until 2014 which I purchased the machine and brought it back to CA. It currently has a clear CA title ,its registered and has license plates for operating on the road. Since I have owned the motorcycle we have replaced the following items.
New tires, tubes and rim bands
New clutch from Stemmler
New plugs
New points
New rubber grips
New rubber pegs
New rubber handle bar spacers
Correct Horn ( not pictured)
Correct NZ500 handlebars and controls with high low switch
Correct NZ500 rear tail light
Period plates both front and rear
New reproduction Fuel valve on the tank
New clutch cable Lets start with the details. The motorcycle is a 2 stroke, you must mix the fuel. The motorcycle is a very fast 500cc machine, it moves rather quick for a 1939 bike. It has sidecar lugs which you can hook up a sidecar. The charging system works well, all of the lights work including the running lights and the high low in the headlight. The switch works perfect as well on the tank, the key comes out, it turns in both directions, zero issues. This means the high low switch and the running lights. The horn I have the correct one but its not on in this photo. It has a Swing arm suspension in the back, much like a Harley Soft tail would. Harley didn't have a swing arm suspension till 1962, DKW had it in 1939. One of the unique features of the swing arm is the ability for on the fly to make the suspension stiffer by turning the handles in the rear of the bike.

The motorcycle starts up right away and purrs away like a typical DKW would. It shifts into all gears, it has a hand and left foot shift like a normal motorcycle so riding the bike is very easy. The charging system still works and charges and the red light goes out once the bike is started. I am being honest as possible when i say about 90-95% of this bike is still original parts. Very little is reproduction on the motorcycle. Some highlights are the original HASAG headlight, the tank switch with key, the speedo, AMAL carb, Air cleaner, battery straps, handlebars , the list goes on and on. Its a extremely nice NZ500 with quality original parts.Another highlight is the original tool kit which is included with the bike, try finding an original tool kit from the 1930's still together.  We did not restore the machine, this is a restoration from the 1990's , we just made sure it was running and rideable and went through some items.

This is a great motorcycle to display, take on some nice back country roads, etc. She is ready to ship anywhere in the USA, title is on hand and in my name. We would entertain a trade for a BMW R12 or any pre 1954 BMW plunger twin. We at Vintage German Motorcycles are dedicated to selling prewar and war time motorcycle such as BMW, Zundapp, DKW. We are full sales, service and Pristine quality restorations.  Please feel free to contact us at Vintage German Motorcycles. We can ship the motorcycle World wide if need be. We would ship out of LA. We can offer full shipping at the customers cost anywhere in the USA. Normal price from coast to coast is around $780, this is a estimate.
